Series: Time Odyssey

Maybe it's the curse of middle-books in a series, but this one left me seriously wanting. Not wanting more of the story, but wanting more of a story.

Essentially, we learn that a huge sunstorm is going to destroy all life on the Earth (how many books have I read with this plot this year?). It takes a world-spanning AI to come up with the obvious suggestion of a huge shield in space. Then they build the shield...and survive the sunstorm. That's about the whole plot.

Tied into it is Bisesa's finally convincing someone she traveled to Mir (the fractured-time alternate reality created in Time's Eye) and the discovery that the sunstorm is a plot by the Firstborn to destroy humanity, but this only seems to come into play on a couple of pages and doesn't actually affect the entire plot in any significant way!
