An interesting book about one journalist's year-long learning and practicing for the US memory championship. I remember WAY back in the 5.25" floppy disk days getting some sort of memory management program from a "shareware" catalog (yeah, those days), and the concepts really haven't changed. Unfortunately, I haven't spent any more time putting the techniques into practice. Though even as the author said, all the memory palaces and clever techniques for remembering decks of cards or long strings of numbers don't really help with the day-to-day tasks, except to help you be more aware of the whole world around yourself. Which is a good thing...if I can just remember to do it.
