I knew the basics - Frankenstein is actually the name of the doctor who created the 'monster,' but after reading the book, one sure feels sorry for the creation. Frankenstein himself really comes across as the monster. How long did he spend creating the creature, and then, once it's finally alive, he runs in horror from it. Didn't he know what it looked like when he was creating it? And from everything the creature experiences on his own, it's clear he would have been a remarkable citizen if someone had taken the time to give him any modicum of respect. I'd say he did quite well for being hated by everyone he came across.
