I do NOT recommend this book (at least to anyone who shares my sense of values). I read through a couple of storylines to verify my diagram, but pretty much had enough after that.
After mapping Warp Your Own Way, I was interested in doing some of these again. I found a list of "modern" choose-your-own-adventure-type books, but unfortunately, many of them were more.... um, choose-your-own-romance books. This one, however, seemed to have some reviews saying it was funny, so I thought I'd give it a shot.
I ultimately enjoyed the process... since the only copy I had was an electronic copy that didn't have page numbers. I had to learn how EPUB files were formatted (essentially they're just HTML under the skin), and then it was just a matter of parsing out the layout. Each "section" had an ID, and then it would either link to choices, have no choices ("the end") or loop back to the first page.
The weird part, though, was the id's of each section. 1A... and then 2A & 2B. And then 3A, 3B, 3C, 3D. As I made the map, I discovered that almost every path was just a straight decision tree. Perhaps that's what all CYOA books are which is why I stopped trying to map these earlier (but I'm still going to give it another shot). I really liked the Ryan North books because there was so much back-tracking and secret paths and surprises. Yes, this one did a LITTLE backtracking, and I had some fun routing all of the "return to start" (aka start another miserable day hungover so you don't remember the past.... yeah, see why I didn't like the contents?) options in a way that were visually appealing. But I clearly kept the decision tree (and hyper-detail-orientedly lined everything up).
Anyway, apparently I have a "collection" of these now!
